Mechanical Engineering
Gartley & Dorsky provides a complete package of mechanical engineering services, including heating, ventilation and air conditioning design, energy analysis, energy conservation projects, cogeneration projects, commercial/institutional scale cooling and heating plants, sustainable building design and LEED project evaluation (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and contract administration. Our mechanical engineering lead brings over 38 years of experience to work for you. We work closely with all parties throughout the duration of the project, including the owner/developer, contractors, subcontractors, and local, state and federal regulators, as required.
Residential Services
We provide mechanical engineering to evaluate and design residential heating and cooling systems and assist in building envelope features to reduce energy consumption. Examples of system we can design include heat pump systems (air source and geothermal), cooling only systems, gas and oil-fired heating systems, hot water heating systems and steam heating systems. We also design ventilation systems with heat recovery to introduce outside air into today’s super-insulated building envelopes. We work closely with Architects and other design professionals to integrate the mechanical design into the project plans and specifications to insure a successful project.
Commercial Developments
From new building construction to building renovations, we can assist in specifying and designing building HVAC systems to meet the needs of the client and provide energy efficiency and reliability. We can assist in developing annual heating and cooling costs and evaluation of energy conservation measures. Where sustainability is desired, we can provide a LEED Accredited Professional to assist in the evaluation and specification of LEED Green Building requirements.
Educational and Institutional Facilities and Campuses
We can design heating and cooling systems for K-12 and post-secondary institutions for any type of building and facility, including classrooms, cafeterias, student residences, labs, libraries, student centers and research centers. Our experience includes district energy systems using hot water, chilled water and steam, in addition to domestic water distribution and storage systems for campuses. Central chilled water and central heating plans design, including water tube and fire tube boilers, centrifugal and absorption chillers, cooling towers and water treatment systems. We can also provide mechanical design for on-site cogeneration systems.
Municipal and State Services
We provide direct engineering design and consultation to local municipalities and state agencies. This can be the evaluation and design of heating, cooling and ventilation of municipal facilities, including systems for municipal offices and maintenance garages. We can also provide fuel storage and fuel dispensing facilities design. Other systems we can provide full engineering services for are water pumping stations, sewer lift stations, water reservoirs and domestic water storage tanks and water distribution systems. We can also provide construction administration and commissioning services.
Contractor Support
The final step in any project is proper construction and implementation. We provide contractor support services to ensure the final product is completed as planned. Our services include construction management, preparation of specifications, bid package preparation, and general construction administration.
